When asked why he was drawn to plastic surgery in particular, he replies, "Early in my training I was allowed to observe the repair of an infant's cleft lip and was completely in awe. That experience paved the way for the rest of my training, including a microvascular surgery fellowship in Australia. At that time, microsurgery was in its infancy and I worked for over a year with one of the great pioneers in the field. When I began practice in Hartford with Hartford Plastic Surgery Associates in early 1978, I was able to apply these years of experience to the aesthetic, or cosmetic, aspect of plastic surgery."

Dr. Reed was one of the first plastic surgeons in Connecticut to establish his own accredited in-office operating room suite. In this setting, he and his staff can assure their patients a personal, private and comfortable atmosphere while at the same time providing maximum safety. "Each individual who comes into my office is unique," says Dr. Reed, "making it interesting to work together in understanding his or her goals and how best to achieve them."
